AMMA Amma Therapy was founded and developed by Korean born Tina Sohn. It is a highly refined and complex system of body work. Amma Therapy utilizes techniques and treatment strategies which combine traditional Oriental medical principals and the Western approach to organ disfunctions for the purpose of assessing and evaluating general imbalances in the energetic system. Utilizing a variety of techniques, sometimes paralleling those found in major forms of theraputic massage, and powerful new points discowered by Tina Sohn, Amma therapy has proven to be an effective healing modality used to treat a wide range of medical conditions. HARA SHIATSU Hara Shiatsu was developed by Naoichi Kuzome, a Shiatsu Therapist living in Kotohira, Japan. Diagnostics and treatments are straight forward and extreamly effective. They may be used in clinical settings or as home treatments. Abdominal diagnosis is performed with attention to hardness, tightness, lumps, looseness, weakness, and reactions or sensations that move with pressure. The treatments themselves are almost entirely oriented to patient self-involvment in the healing process. Practitioners of this therapy act as teachers, using their skills to show patients how to treat themselves. Coupled with breathing exercises and the use of moxa at home, many problems are relieved without further clinical visits. This style of treatment helps relieve the financial burden associated with many chronic conditions. Kuzome comments that he treats everything through the abdomen from knee pain to toothaches, and he stresses the importance of home treatments and patients involvment in their healing process. MEDICAL MASSAGE Medical massage is the systemic manipulation of the soft tissue of the body - muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia to encourage a balanced state of good health in those tissues, and produce therapeutic effects on the respiratory, nervous, muscular, circulatory and energy systems. Specific strokes such as effleurage, petrissage, friction and stretching techniques are used. REFLEXOLOGY Reflexology states that there are reflex areas in the hands and feet that correspond to every part of the body, including organs and glands, and that these parts can be effected by stimulating the appropriate reflex areas. Reflexology is used to relieve stress and tension, stimulate deep relaxation, improve the blood supply and promote unblocking of the nerve impulses in order to normalise and ballance the entire body.
